New York Classical Theatre is thrilled to honor Arts Brookfield with a Royal Tribute at our second annual benefit.
In its nearly 30-year existence, Arts Brookfield has presented more than 5,000 artists, including B.B. King, Buddy Guy, The Roots, O.A.R., award-winning architect and designer David Rockwell, Tony Award-winning designer and director Christine Jones, MacArthur “genius” grant recipient Elizabeth Streb, as well as local artists like New York City-based dance-theatre company Third Rail Projects, Los Angeles-based DJ Anthony Valedez, and of course, New York City’s only all-free professional Off-Broadway theatre company, New York Classical Theatre.
Arts Brookfield is an initiative of global asset management corporation Brookfield, which operates and invests in best-in-class office, retail, industrial, multifamily and hotel assets. Brookfield’s office division owns, develops and manages premier office properties in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom, making Arts Brookfield one of the largest privately funded arts programs in the world. Founded in New York in 1988, the program is designed to invigorate the public spaces of Brookfield’s premier properties through the presentation of free cultural experiences. Arts Brookfield has since expanded to more than 30 properties in Los Angeles, Denver, Houston, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Sydney, Perth and London, and hosts more than 1 million attendees at over 500 events each year. From concerts, theatre and dance to film screenings, art exhibitions and more, Arts Brookfield brings public spaces to life.
Americans for the Arts named Brookfield one of the ten Best Businesses Partnering with the Arts in America (BCA10) in 2014. In 2015, Brookfield received the Municipal Art Society of New York’s Livable Cities Award in recognition of its significant contributions through the arts to the city of New York, and the MAXI Award for its outstanding work and achievements utilizing the arts to transform the retail real estate industry.
